Dad keeps track of what is going on in the driveway and from TV the weather elsewhere. His only reading is a few minutes with the recently deceased in the local paper. But at any time during the day he will report on the latest news and weather as he is watching on TV. Meg plays music during the day. We watched NBA until 10:30. He was up at 2:30 asking for icecream. At 3:30 another bathroom call. And up for good at 6:30. As predicted, there is no pattern and no predictability.
I reached to help him up at 2:30 and he made a fist, growled, and swore. From then on he has been pleasant.
PS. The hippo joke came off Rob's calender. But he did remember it to tell without reading it.
He has lost about 40 pounds this year and can't figure out why is belt doesn't fit tight enough to hold his slacks up. I keep cutting the end off and punching new holes. Meg stiches in elastic straps. But never, ever will he wear suspenders. They are for old people, not him.

Children's sleep patterns are also not predictable. Every night we were away on vacation Esme ended up in our bed. The first night at home both kids slept in their own rooms for 11 hours straight. That seems logical to me. But since then we've had Max come in 2 nights in a row, and then Esme last night. No pattern that I can see...
ReplyDeletefwiw, Lincoln does seem to have a new pattern -- wide awake at 4am! He settles back down about half the time and at least one of us rests until 6, but it sure is an unwelcome development. The good thing with kids as opposed to older folks -- no habit is too ingrained to change.
